Welcome to Plateosaurus!
Welcome to our class! We are 20 Year 1s and 10 Year 2s. Our teacher is Mrs Arber and we are supported by Miss Hussain, Miss Wilson and Mrs Noble. Mrs Bowen works in our class on Wednesday afternoons. We love being creative and take every opportunity to use the outdoors, iPads and lots of other practical resources in our learning. Our teacher plans alongside the teachers in the other Year 1 and Year 2 classes so our learning is exciting, active and engaging. Pax the Plateosaurus chooses a super learner each week to go home with. He has had some exciting weekends! We learn to do work we are proud of and be the best learners we can be.
Each half term we begin a new topic with a 'hook'. This is an exciting and creative start to our topic adventure. Over the past year we have loved taking part in storytelling workshops, undertaken a fitness challenge, welcomed a Victorian visitor and become Nature Detectives for the morning. For each topic we decorate our classroom door to show display an aspect of our learning. This term we are exploring Home Sweet Home - the History of Shelters.
Things to know this term
We have gymnastics on Friday mornings so full p.e. kit must be in school, ready to wear. We also have a p.e. session on Tuesdays, weather dependant, so leave your kit at school! It would be great if p.e. kits went home for washing at half term.
Spellings are linked to our phonics learning. Please bring spelling books in to school on Thursdays. New spellings go out on a Friday.
Year 2s do a times tables challenge every week. Please bring in times tables book on Thursdays. A new tables challenge goes home on a Friday.
