Read the opening (up to the end of page 5) of Goodnight Mister Tom by Michelle Magorian (attached below)

Use www.wordhippo.com to help with any words you are unsure of.

Based on what you have read, draw a picture of what you think the two main characters described –

Mr Thomas ‘Tom’ Oakley and William ‘Willie’ Beech, look like. Around the pictures you have drawn, label words and

phrases taken from the text.

Now watch the opening (3:40 mins- 9:24 mins) to the film Goodnight Mister Tom here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7j8awfdvxaw

 (PG certificate).

Compare the opening of the film to the opening of the book. What are the similarities and differences between the two?

 Write these down.

Which opening to the story do you prefer – book or film? Write down your preference and the reasons for your choice

Foundation Subject

Today you are going to use your new German vocabulary for mini beasts and create a poster to explain your learning (there is another video which sets this task) You may wish to use the photos from yesterday to help too. Please email your work to  rees@salesbury.lancs.sch.uk.

Don’t forget to keep learning the class poem for our Google Meet tomorrow at 9.30am. It would be helpful to have downloaded the Google Meet app prior to the session and have the code sent by parent-mail ready so that you can join easily. As the parent mail states when you join the meeting you need to be on mute and it may take a few minutes for everyone to join.
