Joining us at Salesbury Church of England Primary School

Thank you for showing an interest in joining the Salesbury School Family.  Please find information, on this page, to support your applications to your chosen primary schools.

We welcome families who reside in the Lancashire and Blackburn areas, our unique geographical position makes us in easy reach of both.

Please have a read through the information, come along to see us and then make your application.   Please note, due to the current pandemic, we are conducting visits to school outside of the school day.  We are also restricting the number of visitors at any one time.  We apologise for this 'less open' approach to this approach but we want to ensure we are doing our best to keep everyone safe. We are more than happy to facilitate an online meeting or telephone call, if this is more comfortable for you.

If you would like to attend one of our visit sessions, please telephone the school office on 01254 244580 and we will book this in for you.

Currently, sessions are offered as follows:

Thursday, 14th October - Drop in between 4.00 and 5.45pm

Wednesday, 20th October - Drop in between 4.00 and 6.00pm

Monday, 1st November - Drop in between 2.30pm and 4.30pm

Tuesday, 23rd November - Drop in between 4.00pm and 5.45pm

Tuesday, 4th January - Drop in between 2.00pm and 4.30pm

In the meantime, please explore our website and you may find our virtual tour Looking for nursery and school places for September 2022 | Salesbury Church of England Primary School a good starting point!

Thank you again for your interest

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.

Please find below our school's admissions policy. This outlines the processes and procedures in applying for a place for your child. Please note, we only apply our admissions criteria if we are over-subscribed.

As we are a Voluntary Aided school, you could also  complete the attached Supplementary Form, should you wish your faith to be considered as part of your application.  This form is returned to school.

Please do visit the school.   You can keep an eye out for Open Days, telephone for an appointment to tour the school in action and meet with the Headteacher or simply pop in and we will do our best to accommodate at the time!  Restrictions are currently in place which means we are unable to welcome you for a physical visit, we will do our best to answer your questions, offer online meetings, view our Virtual Open Day in the meantime.

In-Year Admissions

If you are new to the area, first of all - Welcome to Salesbury!

If you are seeking a school place for your child, please telephone Mrs Pearson in the school office on 01254 244580 or email bursar@salesbury.lancs.sch.uk who will be able to advise regarding our available places.

If we do not have a place for your child, we will be able to advise regarding your next steps and the choices available to you.

Appeals

Following the allocation of school places, you do have the right to appeal to an independent admission appeal panel, set up under the School Standards and Framework Act, 1998, as amended by the Education Act, 2002.  Parents should notify the clerk to the governors at the school by 30th April, 2021.  Parents will have the opportunity to submit their case to the panel in writing and also to attend in order to present their case.  You will normally receive 14 days’ notice of the place and time of the hearing.

Appeals which are received after the deadline will be slotted into the schedule where this is possible.  There is no guarantee that this will happen and late appeals may be heard after the stipulated date at a second round of hearings.  The schedule is subject to change depending upon the availability of appeal panel members, clerks, venues and the number of appeals for each school (which will vary year on year).

Please note that this right of appeal against the governors’ decision does not prevent you from making an appeal in respect of any other school.
