Visit from a Poet

Paul Cookson visited our school and engaged all our pupils with his poems and stories. After an assembly for the whole school, each class had the opportunity to work with Paul and create their own poems. These were then shared and performed across the school.

Theatre Trips

Each Year our Year Five and Six pupils are given the opportunity to visit the theatre and see a live play or musical of a book.  Recent visits to Liverpool and Newcastle have included: War Horse, Macbeth and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dream Coat.

School Library Services

We are fortunate to access a wide range of books and resources from the Lancashire School Library Service to further enhance our school library and curriculum. Topic boxes are loaned termly so children have access to high quality texts and non-fiction books. The book bus provide 300 new titles for our library shelves each year, meaning pupils have access to the latest books.  Our Year Six pupils take part in the Fantastic Book Awards and this certainly promotes a love of reading, re-engaging pupils who may not have found their favourite genre yet. Our Two pupils take part in the Brilliant Book Awards and loved exploring the new books and engaging with different activities.
