Fantastic Book Awards
We’ve been taking part in the Fantastic Book Awards (FBA) for over 7 years now and each year the children are very excited to discover what they will be reading. Our six given titles are chosen by the School Library Service and issued during a launch day, where we get the opportunity to meet some authors and gain some insight into the books we’ve been given.
As a school, we choose to buy extra copies of the books so that all the children can engage in the FBA.
Books are wrapped up as presents and presented to the children. Children are keen to read their books at home and we also build time in the school day to read our books too. We have taken part in several competitions over the last few years, including: book covers, dioramas, character profiles, letter writing and story maps.
The FBA votes are due in May, where children will vote for their favourite FBA book and then the book with the highest vote is sent to the library service.
