Salesbury this week!
Blogs PageGood morning Mars Class!
Here are the lessons for today:
Maths warm up. Fractions. You will need 40 counters for this activity (or buttons or cards or clothes pegs). Create an array with your 40 counters, putting them into rows of 10. Remember that 40 counters divided into 10 equal parts makes 4 in each part; and, 40 counters divided into 4 equal parts makes 10 in each part.
1/10 of 40 = 4 and 1/4 of 40 = 10
Now use your array to find 3/10 of 40 and 5/10 of 40. Write number sentences to go with them. See photo below for answers.
Maths main. Money. Log on to MyMaths and complete the Lower KS2 online lesson and homework task Introducing Money.
To log on you need to do the following:
Guided Reading. Read and discuss the following information about keeping safe, happy and healthy in the sun. Be Smart in the Sun:
https://www.healthforkids.co.uk/stayinghealthy/be-smart-inthe-sun/
(If the page is split in half, click for the KIDS section on the left of the page).
Also, view this clip and read the information. Tips for Staying Safe in the Sun
https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/watch/sunsafety-for-kids
Now discuss the guidance about keeping safe in the sun with an adult.
English. Create a true and false quiz for your friends and family using the information you have read. For example:
1. You should apply sun cream every 4 hours – true or false?
2. You should apply sun cream 20 minutes before going out into the sun – true or false?
Try to create ten questions for your quiz and then enjoy testing your family members to see if they know the answers!
D&T. Picture Frame Project. Evaluate your picture frame. (See page 6 of the D&T booklet.) Send your teacher a picture of the completed product. Bring your frame into school with your favourite Lockdown photograph in it and we will create a big display of them all.
Poetry. Practise our class poem: "Hey, Little Bug!" by Tai-Shona Britto.
