Friday 15th May

Good morning Mars Class!

Here are the lessons for today:

Maths warm up. Solve problems, including missing number problems, involving multiplication and division. Count out 24 objects. Arrange the objects to create as many arrays as possible using all 24 objects. Record as many multiplication and division number sentences as possible for each array. See photo below (my example shows just one array and the number sentences that go with it, there are many more).

Maths main. Solve problems involving measures. Use your knowledge of the 4 and 8 times table to complete the activity Four of Each. The mass of each object is written next to it, you will have to scale the mass up to find 4 of them, then 8 of them. Use the Grid Method. Try and get on to the extension work. See PowerPoint below.

Guided Reading. Continue to read and enjoy The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl. This could be from the beginning or from where you read up to the previous day, e.g. from p9 onwards: http://showpdf.rahnuma.org/children/Stories/Roald.Dahl/Roald.Dahl_The-Enormous-Crocodile.pdf
Or 08:11 mins onwards using the recording here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_A0ryZi7cPQ

Discuss what has happened in the story and the tricks the crocodile carried out.

English. Write about each trick under separate headings:

Trick One
Trick Two
Trick Three

Check your spelling and punctuation in each sentence.

Music. Record yourself singing a new song called In This Together. Mrs Fourie wants to put all your voices together to make a remote choir recording! She says she has the technology to do this! It will be amazing if we can.

Instructions from Mrs Fourie:

  1. Listen to the song a few times and then start to sing along using the words and the track on youtube.  https://youtu.be/ZcndafhJvTU
  2. Start to sing the song using the words but singing to the backing track only.
  3. Ask an adult to help record you singing the song.  This can be a video or just an audio track (voice notes/whatsapp voice recorder, or equivalent should work easily on phones). Try to have the track playing through some headphones so that I can just hear your voice.  We will put it together eventually!  You can have the track with the backing or the youtube video playing, it won’t matter if we can’t hear it
  4. Send me the video/audio file using either WeTransfer.  https://wetransfer.com   or by whatsapp to 07971881576 or by email direct to singtogether@blackburncathedral.co.uk  by 22 May 2020
  5. Please fill in and put the following sentence on the email:  I ___________________ (insert first name) from __________________ Primary School give permission for my recording (audio or video) to be used by Sing Together in the ‘In This Together’ Song.

Mrs Fourie is looking forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions about recording or sending the "In this together" song, please email Mrs Fourie on singtogether@blackburncathedral.co.uk
