Friday 23rd October

Good morning Pearl Class!

Here are your lessons for today:

Maths. Use sorting diagrams to compare and sort numbers.

1. Look at the Venn diagrams in the Word Document below. Work out how the numbers have been sorted then label each circle. Add two new numbers to each of the four sections.

2. Look at the sample of numbers on the second page. Think how you could sort these numbers using the blank tables and diagrams. Write headings on each table/diagram and then sort the numbers.

English. Write the resolution and ending of your own Paddington story. Look at the planning grid you made on Monday (Sections 5. and 6.) This is the part where you describe Paddington's final predicament and then explain how he is rescued by a member of the Brown family. Remember to use conjunctions e.g. when, before, after, until and while. Include speech marks in your final paragraph e.g. "Oh Paddington what a silly bear you are!" or "It would have taken me all day to make a mess like that!"  See my resolution and ending below.

Science. Materials change state when they are heated or cooled. Research the temperature at which this happens in degrees Celsius.

Q At what temperature does water freeze?

Q At what temperature does water boil?

Q At what temperature does gold melt?

Q At what temperature does iron melt?

Q At what temperature does oxygen condense from a gas to a liquid?

Q At what temperature do rocks melt and turn to lava?

Q What is unusual about the metal mercury?
