Good morning, Mercury!

I hope you enjoyed the weekend and are looking forward to accessing our final Remote Learning activities, this week! We complete our All Creatures Great and Small!

Focus.

Please see, below, our remote learning tasks for today.

English

Enjoy today’s Anansi Story Time at: https://salesbury.primarysite.media/playlist/mercury-class and on facebook at 9am.

Year 4/Year 3/Table 2

Focus theme: Never Smile at a Crocodile! This week will begin with a look at crocodile facts and films, followed by stories and poems to enjoy together.

  • View this film about crocodiles and enjoy finding out about them with an adult: Crocodile – My Animal Friends at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZQe17gvPZg
  • Watch the film clip again. View a small section of each film at a time, pause the film, discuss key facts and write them down. Also write down any new vocabulary you have encountered. Repeat until the film is ended.
  • Discuss and review all the information you have found out about crocodiles.  Look up some of the new words you have heard in a dictionary or by using Word Hippo. https://www.wordhippo.com/
  • Create a fact file/ poster about crocodiles. Challenge – to include ten sentences about crocodiles in the fact file/poster. Consider writing as if you were a crocodile using the information, e.g.
  • I am…
  • I eat…
  • I only…
  • I like…
  • If I am angry, I …
  • etc.
  • Check spelling and punctuation in each sentence together. Share the fact file/poster with other family members in your house, or with friends and family via online video platforms and email me or upload to Facebook, explaining what you have learned about crocodiles.

Mathematics

Today’s work:

Year 4:  Mathematical Investigation!

Year 3:  Mathematical Investigation!

Table 2: Mathematical Investigation!

Please work through the activity document files – either by looking at the screen and writing the answers down or by printing off the sheets. Follow the instructions carefully and make sure you look through the sheets before you begin, so you can find the answers, extra support materials and the different levels of task - Mild (easier) and Hot (harder). There may also be activities to work with somebody else on. If there is a PowerPoint Presentation, then watch this first, listening to the teaching at the same time. All the answers are provided.
