Salesbury this week!
Blogs PageWe believe that every child deserves a great school library and that is what we offer at Salesbury School. Reading is at the heart of our school and our library is full of up to date fiction, non-fiction and poetry books. All children are given opportunities to access our library throughout the week; they can share books together, choose a new book to take home and listen to other children, or staff, read aloud.
Unfortunately, due to the current restrictions, our library has been out of use for classes to access freely. Books suited to each age group have been shared with classes and class libraries have been well stocked. We look forward to reopening our library very soon!
School Library Services
We are fortunate to access a wide range of books and resources from the Lancashire School Library Service to further enhance our school library and curriculum. Topic boxes are loaned termly so children have access to high quality texts and non-fiction books. The book bus provide 300 new titles for our library shelves each year, meaning pupils have access to the latest books. Our Year Six pupils take part in the Fantastic Book Awards and this certainly promotes a love of reading, re-engaging pupils who may not have found their favourite genre yet. Our Two pupils take part in the Brilliant Book Awards and loved exploring the new books and engaging with different activities.
