Sapphire Class - Year 1 and Year 2

Welcome to Sapphire Class!

Hello! I am Miss Bradshaw, the teacher of Sapphire Class. We are a mixed class of 21 Year 2s and 9 Year 1s. We also have a wonderful teaching assistant, Mrs Simpson.

I am really looking forward to seeing all of the fantastic learning that we will do together this year.

Key Information:

  • Our PE days are Monday and Thursday.  Children are encouraged to come in to school wearing their school track suit on these days.  If they do not have a school tracksuit they may get changed into their PE kit prior to PE lessons.

  • Water bottles are required for your child every day.  Please ensure they are filled with fresh water each morning, we will send these home every afternoon to be washed.

  • Reading books will be sent home on Monday.  These are to be read at home, you can record your child's progress on the reading blog.  On Thursday all books should be returned to school, even if your child has not finished reading them.  We will then either issue new reading books or return unfinished books the following Monday.

  • Reading packs are only needed in school on a Monday and Thursday.

  • Fruit and milk (if you have paid for school milk) are now available again so there is no requirement for healthy snacks to be sent in for playtimes.

  • Please ensure everything your child is wearing is clearly labelled!

About our learning:

In our classroom we are proud and independent learners.  We are all encouraged to try our best and to keep going, even when learning gets tricky.  We learn that mistakes are good and help us to become even better learners.

This year I will be developing the Continuous Provision within our classroom. The areas will include a reading garden, construction zone, phonics area, small world area, maths area and a calm corner. Your child will be asked to use these areas during "discovery time".  This Continuous Provision supports independence and helps to challenge and extend your child's learning.  Each area is carefully thought out to have challenges and tasks for the children to explore. They will be regularly changed or enhanced to ensure there is challenge and relevance to our current learning.
