Swimming Competency 2020

Due to Covid-19 and the school lockdown and restrictions, the time allocated for swimming was reduced by 14 weeks.

At the end of the summer term 2020, 100% of Year 6 children could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.

94% of children in Year 6 could use a range of strokes effectively.

100% of Year 6 children could perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.

During 2021-2022, there have been  many interruptions to swimming lessons due to Covid-19.  We have prioritised swimming lessons for our older children to work to ensure a level of competency by the end of Key Stage 2.
