Tuesday 12th May

Good morning Mars Class!

Here are the lessons for today:

Maths warm up. Solve problems, including missing number problems, involving multiplication and division. Give a grown up a secret number of counters, it can be any number as long as it is in the three times table. Watch as the grown up counts the total number of objects to find how many there are. Then ask the grown up to place them in an array and  write as many number sentences for the array as they can. Check their number sentences are correct. See example below.

Maths main. Division. Log on to MyMaths and complete the online lesson and homework task Bar Models Division.

An audio is available to listen to alongside. Re-read each page out loud after listening to
the audio. Discuss what happened in the story. Read it again before the activity below.

English. Re-tell the story Animal Tricksters in your own words. Practise your sentences out
loud before writing them down. Use these sentence openings to help: One morning … After that … Then … Meanwhile … It wasn’t long before … Later on … In the end …
Check your spelling and punctuation. You could present your story as a book and add some pictures/illustrations. Read your story out to a family member or via an online video platform to other family members, e.g. grandparents. Ask them to say what they like about your story.

Geography. The Local Area. Draw a map of the local area. Use the PowerPoint from Google Earth below. With Salesbury Primary School at the centre, gently trace the roads off the computer screen. Add buildings and label landmarks. Challenge - colour your map, add a compass and a scale.
