Tuesday 2nd June

Good morning Mars Class!

Here are the lessons for today:

Maths warm up. Count up and down in tenths. Make a snake out of counters. See photo below. You have made one whole snake out of 10 counters. Your snake is divided into ten equal parts and these are called tenths. Count forwards and backwards in tenths from 0 to 1. Repeat. Tape your snake to the fridge and talk about it’s tenths all week.

Maths main. Tenths. Complete the activity Shaded Tenths by writing tenths as fractions and tenths as decimals. Click on this link:

Guided Reading. View and enjoy the story of Into the Forest by Anthony Browne:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjgugbdwvMY
Discuss the story and create ideas for your own new story about a walk through a forest.
Who might you meet? Are they characters from other traditional tales or nursery rhymes?
Discuss ones you know such as The Gingerbread Man, Humpty Dumpty, the Three Little Pigs, Jack – from Jack and the Beanstalk, etc.

English. Create a story plan for your new story by drawing pictures of each character you will meet, and labelling them.

French. Recognise nouns for breakfast foods. Match the correct words to the pictures. See PowerPoint below.
