Wednesday 1st April

Happy April Fools Day Mars Class!

Here are the lessons for today:

Maths warm up. Subtract mentally a three-digit number and hundreds. Write the number 976 on a piece of paper. Then make as many different three-digit numbers as you can using the combination of those three digits. See example below. Next count forwards and backwards in hundreds, from each number you have made.

Maths main. Position and direction. At 6 o'clock the hands of a clock make a straight line. How many other times can you find where the hands are at a right angles or in a straight line?  Use this link to help you and then draw hands on the clock faces provided to record your answers. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zhk82hv/articles/zcmdwxs

English. Read the Heart shape poem with a grown-up. See poem below. List four powerful words that the poet has used. List clever rhymes the poet has used. Explain how the poem makes you feel and say why (use the word because...). Discuss how certain words and phrases capture our imagination so we see pictures in our heads.

Guided Reading. The Sheep-Pig by Dick King-Smith, chapter four. See slides of text and comprehension questions.

Spelling. Practise your spellings for this week. They are homophones again. See the activity below.
