Outdoor Learning - Our classrooms without walls!

Our Jubilee Garden

Taking learning outside of the classroom is valuable, exciting and memorable! We have adapted our curriculum to make the most of our locality. Our local area is used as part of local history studies for example: housing and homes, our school in the past, leisure and employment, Roman Ribchester.

In Geography, we believe children should learn through the soles of their feet - we have many local walks - some longer and more challenging than others using a developing range of skills to navigate - journey sticks, photographs, plans, maps, OS maps etc. Our local rivers and landscapes support learning in geography and science.

Each topic focus has either a visit or visitor - favourites include Brockholes, Bring Yer Wellies, Ribchester, Cuerden Valley, Pendle Hill, Salthill Geology Trail, Outdoor Elements

Outdoor Learning - Local Visits

Our Outdoor World is so important to us - each year we have a full week to think about how we can make the most of it for us today and for generations to come. Our Learning from the Land Weeks!
