Welcome to sunshine Class

In nursery we aim to create a friendly atmosphere where the children feel happy and secure and are excited to learn; we hope they will develop a sense of individual responsibility and respect for others. Through play, the children are encouraged to learn new skills and participate in new experiences that will prepare them for school. We hope the children will foster an enthusiasm for learning that will grow throughout their school life.

Our Agents of Change Big Question

This year the youngest children in school have been thinking about how they can help people and animals keep warm this winter. The children had some great ideas including making bird feeders which we hung in our school garden. We also encouraged parents to leave halloween pumpkins outside for the squirrels to feed on. In Autumn term we made a poster which we displayed around school and sent out to all parents, telling them that we were collecting hats, scarves and gloves which we donated to a homeless charity in Blackburn. In summer term we organised an ice pop sale and the proceeds went to Darwen Hedgehog Rescue Centre.

• Blue jogger trousers or leggings
• White polo t-shirt or round-neck t-shirt
• Red sweatshirt/ cardigan with nursery logo on it
• Trainers/shoes with velcro fastenings
• Wellies 
• Slippers
• Coat with a hood 

It is also useful if your child has a bag of spare clothes in school, in case of emergencies.
