Attendance
Attendance at Salesbury - Seeking the flourishing of all children
We can’t wait to welcome all our children back to school and excited to meet all our new children and families too. We know that returning to school means a shift in routines. We can help children (and adults) prepare for a strong start to the school year by resetting sleep schedules 3 to 5 days before school begins by moving bedtime and wake-up time earlier in small steps. Reintroduce familiar routines such as reading before bed, preparing clothes, or having breakfast as we wake up. Begin to chat about what they are looking forward to in the new school year, their friends, their activities - what clubs will they join? what trips might they go on? It is understandable to feel a little nervous but we have planned a three day special week to introduce the class, the learning, the routines etc. Any worries, just let us know.
Strong attendance matters to us. As a school, we have a record of good attendance and hope we can maintain this and do even better! Every child counts! Every day counts!
Is my child too ill for school? - NHS
We love to have your child in school each and every school day. Children are only in school for 190 days each year so each one is precious. However, we understand there may be days where your child is too unwell to attend - there is a helpful link above from the NHS. Please let us know via the school absence line on 01254 244580 or via the school website. If we do not receive a call, Mrs Elvy or Mr Connell will endeavour to contact you or another emergency contact - that way we know everyone is safe and accounted for.
In school, we promote good attendance and punctuality. We open the doors and 8.45 and the school day starts at 8.55am. We have an attendance leaderboard for Key Stage 2. We celebrate the week through our Feel Good Fridays which consist of music, toast and High 5 - an energetic, upbeat end to the week - don't miss it!
We are unable to authorise holidays in term-time so strongly encourage you to book these in the school holidays. There may be times when exceptional leave may be needed - please collect a leave of absence form from the school office,
