Joining us at Salesbury Church of England Primary School

Thank you for showing an interest in joining the Salesbury School Family.  Please find information, on this page, to support your applications to your chosen primary schools.

We welcome families who reside in the Lancashire and Blackburn areas, our unique geographical position makes us in easy reach of both.  We express a clear commitment to both distinctiveness and inclusivity.

Please have a read through the information, come along to see us and then make your application.

Please see below for the dates of our Open Days so you can come along and see what we feel like and sound like too.

Please find below a link to our Determined Admissions Policy which is for children who are starting school in September 2024.  We only apply the admissions criteria if the number of applications we receive exceeds our published admission number of 40.

In the meantime, please explore our website (do keep coming back as we are developing our website and making changes to our curriculum) and you may find our virtual tour Looking for nursery and school places for September 2024 | Salesbury Church of England Primary School a good starting point!  You may also wish to join our online school community at www.facebook.com/salesburyceprimary

Appeal against an admission decision - Lancashire County Council

Appeals

Following the allocation of school places, you do have the right to appeal to an independent admission appeal panel, set up under the School Standards and Framework Act, 1998, as amended by the Education Act, 2002.  Parents should notify the clerk to the governors at the school by 30th April, 2024.  Parents will have the opportunity to submit their case to the panel in writing and also to attend in order to present their case.  You will normally receive 14 days’ notice of the place and time of the hearing.

Appeals which are received after the deadline will be slotted into the schedule where this is possible.  There is no guarantee that this will happen and late appeals may be heard after the stipulated date at a second round of hearings.  The schedule is subject to change depending upon the availability of appeal panel members, clerks, venues and the number of appeals for each school (which will vary year on year).

Please note that this right of appeal against the governors’ decision does not prevent you from making an appeal in respect of any other school.

Appealing for a place

If you're not happy with the school place you're given, you can appeal for any school. You can contact the area education office (admissions department) for help, we can: tell you which schools have places available add your child's name to waiting lists for other schools provide information to help you appeal
