Learning From the Land Week Poem 2026

The Ribble Valley From Our Playground

Where the River Ribble twists and bends,
A magical valley starts and ends.
With rolling hills and skies so wide,
And secrets hidden deep inside.

High above, the giants stand,
Watching over all the land.
Pendle Hill looks dark and grand,
Where witches once. were; where trees expand.
Longridge Fell is green and high,
Reaching up to touch the sky.
While Beacon Fell invites a race,
A leafy, wooded climbing place.

Down below, the farmers wake,
To tend the fields and hay to make.
They feed the sheep and milk the cows,
And drive the tractor as it ploughs.
The fluffy lambs bounce up and down,
Far away from busy town.

Look closely at the forest floor,
Where bright wildflowers bloom galore.
The bluebells blanket woods in blue,
And primroses sip morning dew.
Old oak trees spread their branches wide,
Where tiny owls and squirrels hide.

By the water, wildlife plays,
Through the sunny summer days.
A flash of blue! A kingfisher flies,
Beneath the grey and stormy skies.
The deer tread softly through the grass,
And wave hello to all who pass.

So pack a bag and come along,
Where birds join in a happy song.
The Ribble Valley calls to you,
With adventures fresh and new!
